Spring in the Rockies

I’ve been back in Glenwood for a week on my spring break and have managed to get out fishing everyday. Between the Colorado, the Pan, the Fork, or Canyon Creek, there were some good days and some pretty slow ones. Here are some photos from the past few days on the Roaring Fork near Glenwood and on Canyon Creek. The Fork has been a bit iffy, nymphing is tough most days; I can’t seem to figure out where in the water column the trout are hanging. It’s when the fish start rising to the dense midge hatches, that it gets pretty good. It’s definitely nice throwing dries to decent size bows after a long winter of line dredged in split shot. Matt’s Midges or size 16-20 griffiths gnat seem to be killing it.
